Highlights from the newsletter include: (1) the receipt by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs of more than $2.76 billion under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 with $147.5 million to be administered by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP); (2) an update on the disproportionate minority contact (DMC) required under the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (JJDP) Act of 2002 to reduce the disproportionate number of minority youth who come into contact with the justice system; (3) a review of research findings from the Survey of Youth and Residential Placement (SYRP) sponsored by OJJDP and targeting youth offenders ages 10-20; (4) an update on the drug court initiative and activities related to juvenile drug court training and related conferences, such as the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America Conference; (5) news from the Coordinating Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention and from the Federal Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice; and (6) summaries of recently released OJJDP publications.
