This report highlights BJS FY 1998 initiatives, ongoing programs, and available services and publications. Also presents findings of major statistical series, lists recent and forthcoming reports, and describes how to obtain BJS products and services electronically or by more traditional means. The report describes data collection programs, illustrates their comprehensive coverage of the justice system, and summarizes programs to help States to develop and improve capabilities in justice statistics and information systems, such as the State Justice Program for Statistical Analysis Centers and the National Criminal History Improvement Program.
